An interactive workshop will address the digitalization of the SMEs in the Balearic nautical sector

An interactive workshop at the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce will address how the small and medium sized enterprises in the Balearic nautical sector can access European aid from the Acelera Pyme programme for digital transformation.

In view of the Spanish government´s announcement that it will invest 4 billion euros from the European Next Generation funds in the digitalization of SMEs until 2025 through the Acelera Pyme (Accelerate SMEs) programme, the Balearic nautical sector set to work to seize this opportunity to undertake the digital transformation of its small and medium sized companies.

Thus, an interactive workshop promoted by Sea Teach has been organized, which will take place next Tuesday 21st of December from 10 am to 12 noon at the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce. During the workshop, José Antonio Caldés, in charge of the Acelera Pyme office of the Chamber, will explain everything related to these subventions and how to access them, and will attend to the questions, concerns and proposals of the SMEs in the sector.

The workshop, which will take the form of a round table discussion, will also listen to the views of companies in the sector on what aspects of digitalization they consider important and want to learn more about, and will present the DigiCulTS project (Digital Culture for SMEs), which includes a series of tools to help SMEs in the digitalization process. It contains a digital competence diagnostic, an online course and a repository of learning tools. Within the online course, there will be special modules for different sectors, especially for the nautical sector.

"With the European funds, companies in the nautical sector have a golden opportunity to undertake their digital transformation," says Max Schmidle, project manager at Sea Teach. "There is an increasing demand for digital services from the users, who no longer just want to consume the product, but also demand all the related information on social media, as well as pre-sales, after-sales services and everything that can improve their user experience. Applying these tools creates added value and allows companies to reach larger markets, build customer loyalty and develop greater resilience in the face of change," he adds.
