Balearic Islands leads the national boat market in the first quarter
In the first three months of 2023, 235 recreational boats have been registered in the Balearic Islands, representing an increase of 24.34% over the same period last year, when 189 units were registered, according to the Association of Nautical Companies in the Balearic Islands (AENIB).
Thanks to this evolution, reflected in the 'Recreational Boat Market Report, January-March 2023', edited by ANEN from data provided by the Directorate General of Merchant Marine, the market share of the Balearics in the national context has gone from 16.18% to 17.87% in one year. The archipelago is thus the leading province in the national boat market, followed at a considerable distance by Barcelona, with 10.87%, and Alicante, with 6.92%.
In terms of the charter market, the Balearic Islands is the leading autonomous community in this area, accounting for 30.11% of the registrations recorded in the first quarter, followed by Catalonia (21.43%) and the Valencian Community (12.91%).
On a national level, the nautical market recorded upward figures on the threshold of the boating season, with 1,315 recreational boat registrations between January and March 2023, representing an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period in 2022.
Of the total number of vessels registered by March this year, 850 (65%) are boats for private use and 465 (35%) are boats for charter, which continues to grow at a higher rate than the overall market.
