Balearic nautical market starts the year with a decline but retains national leadership

The Spanish nautical market closed January with a total of 193 recreational boat registrations, marking a 9% decline compared to the 212 recorded in the same period of 2024. Despite the drop, the pace of decline has slowed compared to January of the previous year, when registrations fell by 19.7%, according to the January 2025 Boat Market Report published by the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN) based on data provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy.

The Balearic Islands remain the province with the highest number of boat registrations (23 units), although this represents a 20.7% decrease compared to January 2024, when 29 boats were registered. Despite this decline, the archipelago continues to lead the market, accounting for 11.9% of all registrations in Spain. It is followed by Alicante and Barcelona, both tied with 22 registrations each and an 11.4% market share.

Regarding the boat rental market, a total of 51 boats were registered for charter use in Spain in January 2025, compared to 62 in the same month last year, representing a 17.7% decline nationwide.

As in the general market, the Balearic Islands lead in charter boat registrations. However, the region also saw a decline, with registrations dropping by 17.7% compared to the previous year. Baleares maintains its top position with 18 registrations and a 35.3% market share, followed by Alicante with 7 registrations (13.7%) and Las Palmas with 5 (9.8%).
