Charter and boat registrations in excellent state of health in the Balearics
The Balearic Islands leads the charter market with a quarter of the total registrations

Between January and November 2021, 1129 recreational boats have been registered in the Balearic Islands, representing an increase of 14.38% over the same period in 2020, when 987 boats were registered. These figures are from the "The market report for recreational vessels January-November 2021", published by ANEN and based on data provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine.

The figures are exceptional, considering that the past year was marked by the toughest stage of the pandemic, including the months of lockdown. it is also interesting to make comparisons with 2019, the year before the health crisis. Compared to the first 10 months of 2019, registrations have grown by 1.07% so far in 2021, indicating that the Balearic yachting sector is recovering satisfactorily from the slump caused by Covid and has reached pre-pandemic levels (1129 registrations this year compared to 1117 in 2019).

Within Spain, the Balearic Islands has the third largest market share among the autonomous regions, accounting for 16.81% of all registrations. Ahead are only Andalusia with its 21.83% and Catalonia, which represents 18.27% of the national boat market.

As for the charter market, between January and November 2021, the Balearic Islands is at the top of the market with a share of 24.6%, followed by Catalonia (20.4%), the Valencian Community (18.4%) and Andalusia (16.2%).

"While it is true that the global problems in logistics pose uncertainty in all economic sectors, after the boom in demand earlier this year the boat market tends to stabilize and we expect growth to continue next year," says Carlos Sanlorenzo, secretary general of ANEN.
