Start of the election process for AENIB’s new Board of Directors
The elected members will serve until 2031. All candidates wishing to run must meet the representation requirements set forth in the electoral regulations and adhere to the approved schedule.
The candidacy submission period opens on Thursday, February 27, 2025, and will remain open until 11:59 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Interested parties must submit the corresponding application form, which can be requested from AENIB’s secretariat via email at secretaria@aenb.es.
Once the submission period closes, the Electoral Committee will convene on March 3, 2025, to review the applications. If any deficiencies are identified, candidates will have until March 10 to rectify them, following the same submission procedure. A second meeting of the Electoral Committee will take place on March 11 to officially announce the candidates. Appeals may be submitted between March 18 and 19, and the final list of candidates will be published on March 20, 2025.
If only one candidacy is submitted, it will be automatically declared elected, concluding the process. However, if multiple candidacies are presented, the electoral period will begin, allowing for mail-in voting between March 21 and 26. The election, vote count, and proclamation of the elected board will take place during the Annual General Meeting on March 27, 2025.
Following the recent amendment of the Statutes, as of 2025, the AENIB Presidency will rotate among the islands. The President and other board members will serve a total term of six years, with the presidency allocated as follows: a two-year term for the representative of Mallorca, followed by two years for the representative of either Menorca or Ibiza (to be determined), and the final two years for the remaining island's representative.
The Board of Directors will comprise a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 16 members, including six representatives from Mallorca, three from Menorca and three from Ibiza/Formentera, along with representation from ANEN (National Association of Nautical Companies). The board will oversee various sectors, including boat repair, shipbuilding, marina and dry dock management, concession-based activities, megayacht services, charters, training, engineering, as well as yacht management and consultancy.
Additionally, the Board of Directors will appoint an Executive Committee composed of at least five members: two from Mallorca, one from Menorca, one from Ibiza and Formentera, and one from ANEN.
