This is according to the monthly report prepared by the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN) using data from the Directorate-General of the Merchant Navy.

Despite the overall market decline, the Balearic Islands remain the province with the highest number of registrations, accounting for 15.3% of the national total. The islands recorded 129 registrations in the first quarter of 2025, consolidating its lead in the sector. However, this still marks a sharp 30.6% drop from the 186 registrations during the same period in 2024.

In comparison, Barcelona ranks second with 101 registrations and a 12% market share. Alicante follows in third place, recording 74 registrations—the same as in the first quarter of 2024—representing an 8.8% share.

The charter segment, which accounts for nearly 30% of the total market, also saw a decline. Nationwide, charter boat registrations dropped sharply from 350 in the first quarter of last year to 249 by March 2025.

The Balearic region continues to set the standard in this sector, with 75 charter registrations, although this figure is down 28.6%. Barcelona takes second place, showing a notable growth of 45.8%.
