Despite a decline in registrations, the Balearic boat market continues to lead nationally. In the first nine months of the year, 822 recreational boats were registered in the Islands, marking a 16.46% decrease compared to the 984 units registered during the same period in 2023. However, the Balearic Islands have increased their market share at the national level, now accounting for 18.24% of all boat registrations in Spain, according to the "Recreational Boat Market Report, January-September 2024," compiled by ANEN using data from the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine.

Nationally, boat registrations fell by 17.4%, with a total of 4,506 boats registered by September, compared to 5,453 in the same period in 2023. The Balearic Islands remain the leading region, followed by Barcelona with an 11.07% share, and Madrid, which holds 6.75% of the national market.

In the charter market, the Balearic Islands saw a 23.28% drop, with 445 boats registered for rental, down from 580 the previous year. Despite this decline, the Islands remain the center of Spain's charter market, capturing 27.17% of national charter registrations, ahead of Barcelona with 11.78%, and Girona at 8.73%.
