The modification of the statement of conditions by APB for maintenance and refit services, analyzed by the Balearic employer association AENIB
Around 50 member companies of the Association of Nautical Companies in the Balearics (AENIB) have been able to get clarification to their questions and doubts regarding the modification of the statement of conditions for the commercial service of maintenance and repair of ships and yachts in the ports of Palma, Alcúdia, Mahon, Ibiza and La Savina, published in the beginning of January this year by the Balearic Port Authority. This was possible thanks to an online webinar organized by AENIB, and hosted by José Luis Favos, the person in charge of the technical issues and internalization at the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN).
During the online session, which lasted about an hour, Favos responded to questions like “how to pay the fee, how is it applied in case of subcontractors, what kind of documentation needs to be presented to declare each of the projects carried out and how to declare works that have been requested urgently, among other things” as explained by Favos, an industrial engineer from the Technical University of Valencia and a specialized nautical consultant.
Representatives of industries dedicated to refit and yacht management from Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza participated in the webinar. “They were highly interested in the issue and concerned about the changes in work processes, increase in administrative working load and extra cost for carrying out the work, caused by the modification”, explained Favos. ”It is an issue that affects a large number of companies, actually all those operating in the port, including freelancers, who will have to request permits and declare works done through APB with a certificate, which requires hours of extra work”.
It was not the first time that AENIB organizes an online meeting to clarify issues for the associates. “As questions arise in conjunction with legal modifications or other changes that affect a large number of companies in the sector, AENIB as well as ANEN get involved in order to respond to the questions rising from the sector. Before the pandemic, the meetings were presential, but now we have adapted to the circumstances and hold the meetings online”.
