The Nautical Committee of the Balearic Islands is Now a Reality
This new platform for dialogue, focused on nautical activities includes representatives from Ports IB; the APB; the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine; the various regional departments responsible for coasts, water resources, natural environment, and fisheries; nautical vocational training centers; the National Institute of Oceanography; the Spanish Meteorological Agency; and members of the different entities representing the sector, headed by AENIB.
According to the BOIB, the Nautical Comittee of the Balearic Islands is established as a "body for consultation, debate, and advice on this matter. It is tasked, without prejudice to the responsibilities assigned to other organisations, with debating, advising, making recommendations, and providing counsel to the Government of the Balearic Islands on related issues." The BOIB considers it essential to monitor aspects related to the rental of boats and other recreational vessels, recreational nautical schools, nautical sports schools, nautical certifications, commercial kayaking centers, anchoring, buoys, moorings, waste disposal, and the regulatory framework governing these areas. It emphasizes the need to create the Nautical Committee of the Balearic Islands to have an appropriate advisory and consultative body for these matters.
