The recovery of the Balearic nautical market is consolidated
According to the statistics presented by the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN), based on the data provided by the Directorate General of Merchant Marine, 5,177 recreational craft have been registered in Spain between January and July 2021. This is an increase by 12% compared to the pre-pandemic figures in 2019, when 4,621 boats were registered in the same period. If we refer to the first half of 2020, when there was a sharp decline in the nautical market due to the onset of the pandemic, this year’s growth stands at almost 36%.
The Balearic Islands, with 902 registrations, is the undisputed leader of the Spanish nautical market, followed by Barcelona, with 558 registrations and an increase of 60.81%, and Alicante, with 404 units registered and an increase of 54,20%.
However, the Balearic Islands lose some market share in the national market with 17.42% of the total registrations, compared to 19,31% recorded a year ago.
