Training for the Future of the Balearic Nautical Sector

The General Directorate of Vocational Training and Educational Planning is launching an informational and recruitment campaign aimed at businesses, encouraging them to host vocational training students in their workplaces.

This initiative aligns with the key guidelines of the new vocational training law, which promotes active business participation in the education of future professionals and requires workplace training placements from the first year of the program.

How to Participate

Interested companies must fill out a questionnaire (see below) providing their basic contact details. The information collected will help determine the student profiles companies are willing to host for FEMPO, which stands for Training in a Company or Equivalent Organization, formerly FCT (Training in Workplace) internships.

This data will be shared with educational centers that have informed the General Directorate that they are looking for companies to host students with the profiles specified.

Coordination and Training Plan

The educational center will contact the company to coordinate the FEMPO placement and define the key aspects of the Training Plan that students will follow. This plan can be adapted to the company's needs while ensuring compliance with the required training hours:

  • Between 500 and 700 hours of FEMPO over the two-year program.
  • At least 100 hours must be completed during the first year.

No Cost for Companies

Students participating in FEMPO will be registered with Social Security, but this has no financial or administrative impact on the company. The General Directorate of Vocational Training and Educational Planning manages and processes all contributions, linking students to the educational center’s Social Security account, not the company's. Additionally, this training is unpaid, meaning it does not generate any costs for the company.
